Carter McLean
Chief Operating Officer
Carter McLean is a finance and operations executive with more than 15 years of professional experience. At Fortif Law Partners, Carter serves as Chief Operating Officer, bringing financial discipline, process rigor, and institutional-grade controls to support the partners and enhance the experience of every client the firm serves.
Carter’s focus at Fortif is straightforward: keep the firm running at its best so the attorneys can focus on what they do best. He oversees all financial operations and firm administration while driving efficiency improvements that allow Fortif to deliver consistent, high-quality service and think differently about the business of practicing law.
Before joining Fortif, Carter held senior finance and asset management roles across the real estate industry, most recently at RCP Companies, and founded VMH Consulting, a niche property tax advisory firm. He began his career as an Auditor at Ernst & Young, where he served Fortune 500 financial institutions.
Carter is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his B.S. in Accounting from Birmingham-Southern College, where he played on the men’s soccer team. When he is not working, Carter enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, trying to stay in shape, and the very occasional golf round.
